![]() Regardless of your motives, prepare to face off against thousands of deadly robots spider-bots that swarm you with their spinning saw blades, copter-bots, giant ED209 mechs that charge at you like the Juggernaut, and some of the biggest boss fights ever seen in an FPS. The story is definitely confusing and somewhat disposable, told through stylish comic book panels that animate between the missions and help disguise the initial load times, which have been greatly reduced in this new version. You play as Major Fletcher as he explores the city of Bezoar from the rain-soaked roofs to the depths of the subway system and all levels in-between. If all that sounds good, then this is the game for you because Hard Reset Redux blends all those ingredients into something that is wholly unique to play and visually stunning to watch. ![]() It has the gleam, shadows, and real-time lighting of DOOM, and it has the frantic wave-based combat design of Serious Sam. It has the corporation conspiracy of Syndicate, and the cyberpunk implants of Deus Ex. It has uniquely powerful and awesomely original weaponry that would make Ratchet & Clank envious. Hard Reset doesn’t just borrow its exterior look from Blade Runner. ![]() And when I say “oddly familiar” I think it’s safe to say the team over at Flying Wild Hog really love their Blade Runner Originally released nearly five years ago, Hard Reset is an intense futuristic shooter set in an oddly familiar cyberpunk universe that has been heavily overhauled and updated for 2016. After 10+ awesome hours of playing Hard Reset Redux I am sure of two things old-school arcade FPS games are alive and well, and THIS is how you do a remastered version of a previous classic. ![]()
